some of the rules for Tidy Kid's first release "people sit in cars "
Some of the rules created include :
All material must pass through air or leads near to the composer, as a born sound, transduced onto either a tape recording or DAW recording. This allows for, quantum physically speaking, the artists mind to effect the sound's potential, to reflect the inner self and become his/her own.
A limited use of recording equipment has been set aside for project 1, including a single microphone, stereo outboard pre-amp, an editing system, and 2 small studio speakers, together with the instruments, the voice, sound objects, acoustic guitars, percussion, a single synth toy, and a few self made instruments. This keeps the material world at a simple purity level, disallowing the need for something that can't be, or isn't to be. Music in this project, is aimed to come from the person, and not influenced by the instruments conditioned function. However, with contrast in mind, the conditioned self is allowed to poke his/her head in at times, it's a collaborative trip.
All tracks must vary in tempo.
A limited amount of mixing tools are available, to direct most of the artistic mind during tracking, rather then post. Post production should be kept relatively simple.
Only 5 string guitars are allowed.....
A few minutes of eating, talking to people, walking back and fourth with excitement should conclude a period of artistic thinking. It's to good of a feeling to waste on sleep. |
