Project Conditioning Rules 2.0 : My Frozen Flower Pot

Some of the rules created include :

Adopting the same constraints as Project One, however adding the ability to use found objects around the apartment to create a larger variety of drum samples, still keeping real drum manipulations going, all hand placed without using any soft synth's, midi, samplers, funny plug ins..........

Tempo must vary even more then before. However and faster more frantic approach must be taken. Tidy Kid must push himself to feel daunted at first.

Reverb is allowed to play a bigger part in creating a wider and deeper spectral image, moments of ambient electro are to be welcomed when seen fit.

A beard will be grown to prevent Tidy Kid from feeling to young, physically speaking. This will help to provide a larger contrast between the de conditioned child like nature of the music, and the appearance of the composer. So ha! Suck that you over grown tomato! But it is now realized that the face of this period will be the image of the 08 album.

A timeline of 4 months will be allowed until the next cd must be finished and ready for mastering. This starts today, September 1, 2006. Beard has commenced, feeling itchy and irritated.

Yes, it was a great period, I reflect in glee, but no the beard must come off, it's the 3rd period, and it's time to be thin, dressed in white only, and sporty.................

Some other thoughts for that frozen flower pot period ....

Thoughts and motivations : Tidy Kid likes to create music from his home, with a single microphone, pre-amp, all original samples taken from his commercial studio and mish mashed to play alongside an improvised guitar and vocal performance. The signal chain is pure of frustration, the technical side has diminished and stress levels are at an all time low. As written in the project one notes, the sonic boom of the mind is allowed to have an effect on all the sound waves being produced.

This 4 track EP has been created in response to Tidy Kid's first EP, People Sit In Cars. Where the first helped to create the sound and shape through conditioning rules, restrictions, complications, the 2 nd EP is a reaction to the conditioned world tidy kid has created for himself. In some ways, it's there to make Tidy Kid feel uneasy with creating an artist sound, and how easy it is, to get stuck in your own sound. All tracks through both EP's have been more or less, exercises. No single idea has been let loose, to play on it's own. For the moment, this is not a bad thing.

The 2nd EP has the same restrictions, same conditions as the first. It is also the completion of the first year of composing and therefore, what will cont. after this point is a heavily contrasted self proposed plan for an Album, due in 09. My Frozen Flower Pot also starts to bring into the equation the idea of large contrast, not only within single tracks, but also from track to track. The CD finishes of with a track called Snail, which is a one take classical guitar performance, improvised on the spot, first thing in the morning, with simple additions of voice, keys and drums. For Tidy Kid, it's the perfect way to let go of what has been, enjoy in it, but to now, look forward and sprout another limb. Tidy Kid would love to thank Umor Rex, for taking on this 2nd EP, a fantastic net label.
