Diary October page 2 month 2

Day 30: My Australian Label is sending out their first cd's and press kits today, so that's exciting to hear. They are aiming for reviews and airplay. So nice of them, maybe I should send them some treats, a bucket of flowers or a plastic bag full of lemons. Depending on my daily mood, the world either is yelling for help, or I'm feeling like I need to give help.............. It was a good month..........

Day 29: Everyone's got to learn sometime........

Day 28: Trying to rush something artistic just ain't good man, it's not worth your trouble. Rather spend the time to conceptualize and create a vision for the next step, rather then force it to come. If you force it, it will simply have to divert to your conscious mind to much, and you'll simply create repetition. You don't want that, even though it will please others, you must first impress yourself. You can feel selfish when you rush it....

Day 27: Lucky for me today I get it..........

Day 26 : I love how depending on your mood, you can get it some days, and other days you have no idea...

Day 25 : Kind of funny when you go to compose something, and you notice that your just not in the right head space. It's like when you listen back to something and you realise that it's evoking a memory of someone else's track. Usually as soon as that happens i delete the part and run down the street yelling and waving my hands in the air. The truth is harder then a lie. You can get down and feel like it's just not worth making more music, until you find the concepts and the beautiful contrast that comes with being in the correct head space. I want this and I also want that, hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Day 7 to 24 : So sorry, I really had to work on my business and have not posted since day 6. It's not sad, it's reality. More radio play and other label interest has kept Tidy Kid partially awake. Now i'm completely awake.

Day 6 : There are a few more labels picking up on the debut now, it's getting exciting and it's only urging me to make more sounds, today i'm using a variety of sounds from the bathroom, should help me to create a larger sample library of organic drum sounds.

Day 5 : A day with my parents, lots of fun, lots of good food, ahhhh yum, large plate of Sashime..........

Day 4 : gym gym gym

Day 3 : Depending on the nature of a new track, it seems that I can only spend so long on the beats, before i have to unleash a single vocal melody on the track. Like in the 1st project, it's always based on a single performance. I make up the lyrics during the take, and then react to the lyrics afterwards, whilst adding more sounds, and finally finishing of the form of the track. Tracks are short quite often because repetition at this stage doesn't seem like a important factor. I'd prefer to see people listening to the songs again and again, rather then the song doing that for them...................

Day 2 : Seriously, I do enjoy singing through a normal dynamic microphone for all the vocals, in stead of all the crazy expensive condenser and ribbon mics i have at the studio. It's a sense of not feeling controlled by what good and bad gear is. It's up to the music, if it's good, it will shine through, no matter what is used to trans duce it. Of course, it's a passion of mine to mix fucked up sounds together with sonically beautiful rich sounds. The 2 together create what i enjoy and respond to as produced music. All clean and rich will stop me listening to it on repeat. All crap suits certain styles, hey, the 1st 2 years of punk back in the 70's was all about raw fast done recordings. It was the style. The majority of punk these days really should have a different name. Oh, if anyone's interested, you should check out a book called Rough Trade by Rob Young. It's the 2nd in a series from Labels Unlimited. The 1st in the series was based on my favorite Electronica.. label, Warp!...........................

Day 1 : Working on Sheezy's website today, creating the final brief for the art poster world wide project for peace, and I like good posture..............
